IRC's CEO Patrick Moriarty will shine on the TEDxDenHelder stage with his TED talk 'It's about the systems, stupid!'

During TEDxDenHelder 21 inspiring speakers will share their brilliant ideas - some of them through inspiring stories, others with music and art performances. Despite the diversity of the acts, they are all linked to the theme 'Draw your future'. Moriarty will focus on the future of development aid. His TED Talk is the perfect stepping stone to share the systems based approach with the rest of the world.

'It's about the systems, stupid!'

We live in a world surrounded by complex systems that deliver health, education and water, sanitation and hygiene to us. Despite this we are largely blind to them – ignoring the systems and seeing only the services they provide. In both the rich and developing world this "systems blindness" is responsible for failed investment and poor services on a huge scale.

Through Moriarty's experiences in the battle to provide safe and clean water, sanitation and hygiene services in the developing world, he will share how overcoming systems blindness and building strong national systems helps deliver those services whilst ending aid dependency.
